How to use the parent portal

Your controls: stages, settings, progress, reports and privacy, behind a parent code.

The parent portal is where you set MyHappySky up for your child and see their progress. Your child doesn't see it.

The parent code

The first time you open the portal, you choose a 4-digit parent code. After that, the portal asks for the code each time. The code keeps settings and scores out of your child's reach. It isn't a password, and it stays on this tablet.

What's inside

  • Overview: a quick look at skills, the Talk board and recent learning.
  • Skill map: every skill from the Learn games, grouped by area and marked not started, practicing, getting it or mastered.
  • Talk board: turn stages on as your child is ready, and see the words used most.
  • Learning center: each game your child played, with the score, hints used and time spent.
  • Reports: a progress report to print or save as a PDF, for a teacher, therapist or IEP meeting.
  • Settings: sound, voice, movement on screen, drawings or your own photos, which tools show in child mode, and a backup file.
  • Privacy and consent: turn progress tracking on or off, and see, download or delete what's saved.

Progress tracking is off until you turn it on

Until you turn tracking on, the progress views show a short note instead. When it's on, progress is saved on this tablet only. Nothing about your child is sent to us.

Back up your child's setup

Everything lives in this tablet's browser. Download a backup file from Settings now and then, and keep it somewhere safe. If you clear the browser or move to a new tablet, you can load the backup to bring everything back.

Tips

  • Set it up once, then step back. Choose the tools and stages, then let your child use child mode on their own.
  • Look at progress weekly, not daily. Skills grow over weeks. The skill map is most useful as a slow, steady picture.
  • Bring the report along. A printed report is an easy way to share what your child practices at home with their teacher or therapist.
