How to use My day

A picture schedule that shows what's happening now, what's next and the rest of the day.

My day is a picture schedule. It shows your child what's happening now, what comes next, and the whole day in order.

How it looks

The big card is Now. Beside it is Next. Along the bottom, the day's steps run from left to right, and finished steps fade and show a check mark.

When a step is finished, your child taps Done. Now moves forward, and Next becomes Now.

Build the day

Tap Edit my day and enter your parent code, or open the parent portal. Pick cards from the library, such as wake up, breakfast, brush teeth, get dressed, school bus, lunch, bath and bed, and put them in order. Your schedule stays on this tablet until you change it.

Tips

  • Start small. The next three or four steps are easier to follow than a whole day.
  • Look before the change. Point to Next a minute before it's time, so the change isn't a surprise.
  • Use the card's words. Say "Shoes on" when the card says "Shoes on," so the picture and your voice match.
  • When plans change, change the card. If the park is closed, swap the card while your child watches. The Stories tool has a story called "When plans change" you can read together on a calm day.
  • Celebrate Done. Tapping Done is your child's job. Let them do it, even when you could do it faster.

Mornings and evenings

Many families keep one schedule for school mornings and change a few cards for weekends. Bedtime routines work well too: dinner, bath, pajamas, brush teeth, story time and bed.
